What is micellar water?

Taking makeup off and cleansing your skin before going to bed at night is a must as we all know. Our skin needs to breathe and needs time to renew and the best time is at night. Just like cleaning your teeth twice a day, cleansing your skin helps maintain its balance and adding your favourite skin treatments from the basics of toning and moisturising is something we all know to do. But, sometimes, we can be a bit lazy and removing makeup whether on your skin and eyes, can be time consuming. Using both our micellar cleansing and our makeup remover is really quick and both formulas will help keep you skin free from dirt, oils and bacteria. There is evidence that allowing makeup to build up, particularly in your eyes, can encourage bacterial infections especially if you are using old and unsanitised makeup products and applicators.
Our top tips
1. Always remove your makeup at night followed by your usual beauty regime.
2. Clean and sanitise your makeup brushes regularly – between every to stop cross-contamination and get better application.
3. Makeup sponges are one of the worst breeding grounds for bacteria and need cleaning every time you use them. Not only does this help reduce any infection through bacteria build up, but helps with better application and makes your sponges last longer.
4. Sanitise your makeup frequently even as a home user.
5. Decant and declutter your makeup bag regularly followed by a deep clean and sanitise.
6. Never share your makeup.
7. Check your expiry dates – if something doesn’t look right of smell right, then bin it.
Behind the Scenes at TPHC HQ
Micellar Cleansing Water by The Pro Hygiene Collection® has been developed for us here in the UK by our specialist product development partners. To pass our high-performance test, as makeup artists and wearers of makeup, we know it’s important that a cleanser and makeup remover, does what it says on the tin.
So, our brief was tough – the most difficult to remove waterproof mascara, the deepest red pigment long-wear lipstick and eyeliners and gels that literally stick. Did it pass the test – you bet it did, and we love it. We hope you do too.
