Step 2 If you are sanitising a large product (e.g. an eye shadow palette), pump a second spray to ensure the full surface area has been covered but be careful – you do not want to saturate the product.
Step 3 Leave product to dry for 60 to 80 seconds (this is the time it takes to be effective and kill 99.99% of bacteria).
Step 4 Wipe any spray residue off the hard product packaging with a clean tissue. Use makeup as normal.

Product FAQs
Does the Antibacterial Makeup Spray work on all my makeup including mascara?
The fabulous antibacterial spray works on gels, creams, pencils, powders (loose and pressed), lipstick bullets and palettes of lip colours. We do not recommend you use it on mascara. It is not for use on makeup brushes.
But you can clean and sanitise your mascara, lip gloss and eyeliner applicators/brushes with our Makeup Brush Cleaner instant spray by simply removing any excess product with a tissue and using the makeup brush cleaner as directed making sure that the applicators are fully dry before using.
Here are our top tips on keeping mascara bug free (1) never share your mascara and (2) replace your mascara regularly (3) respect the shelf life of your products and (4) if you are a makeup artist, we have a range of disposable mascara wands so you can keep germs at bay without double-dipping and avoiding cross-contamination and infecting your clients. For all makeup artists it’s essential to use makeup disposables and never “double-dip” your wand. We have a great range of eco-disposables online.
How long does the Antibacterial Sanitising Makeup Spray last one you have sprayed your makeup?
We recommend you spray your makeup products after use and then your products will stay sanitised until you use them again as the Antibacterial Makeup Spray not only kills 99.99% of bacteria but also stops the regrowth of germs. Perhaps you have a favourite summer bronzer which only comes out in the spring/summer, so before you put it away for the winter, spritz the bronzer and it will be safe until you use it next season. It’s a bit like putting your winter woollies away safely to ensure the moths don’t eat them!
How often should I disinfect my makeup with the Antibacterial Makeup Sanitising Spray?
If you use certain makeup products daily/weekly, use the spray several times a week.
If you are a makeup artist or perhaps you think your sister, daughter or friend or flatmate is sharing your makeup, use before and after you use your products. As a makeup artist, you would definitely use the Antibacterial Makeup Sanitising Spray between every client and after big events.
Are you sure that the Antibacterial Makeup Sanitising Spray won’t damage my favourite blusher and eye shadow?
The products have all be developed and tested by ourselves, industry experts and by an independent laboratory and results prove they do what it says on the tin. Effectively killing 99.99% of bacteria without affecting product performance if used correctly.(1)
How do I use it on my lipstick?
Spritz as per instructions, wait 60 seconds and wipe over with a clean tissue. Do not use on lip gloss.
Our top tips for using the Antibacterial Makeup Sanitising Spray:
1) follow instructions
2) use the spray sparingly and never over-soak products
3) ensure you wipe the residue of the packaging immediately after spraying
4) ensure you wait until the spray has dried and disappeared into the products before use.

Makeup & Beauty Hygiene Essential Guide
By their very nature, makeup and beauty tools including makeup brushes and makeup sponges provide prime breeding grounds for bacteria and fungus. Research over the years has confirmed this and only last year, Birmingham Aston University’s research clearly proved in detail how used and uncleaned makeup and makeup sponges gave rise to a range of bacteria and fungus. In addition, research in the States also showed how beauty counter tester samples harboured a range of bacterial loads from e-coli to fungal organisms.
We are living in different times with the covid pandemic and our awareness for the need for good hand hygiene to avoid cross-contamination is at an all time high. Makeup brands and beauty professionals have excellent hygiene protocols and we are delighted that so many international colour cosmetics companies use The Pro Hygiene Collection®, but what about consumers who wear makeup?
The cross-contamination cycle is no different for makeup wears. Because we all understand instinctively the health damage that cross-contamination can wreak, yet with makeup, most consumers are blissfully unaware of the dangers of cross-contamination. Anything goes … brush to face, brush to makeup, hands to eyes, hands to sponges, lips to lipstick – the contamination cycle is extensive and is multiplied whenever makeup is shared. First think about where it goes. Around sensitive eyes, into the moist corners of the mouth, onto facial skin, which as we know, is semi-permeable and thinner than body skin. Now think about the micro-organisms that can transfer through makeup use, breed on on the product, and contaminate brushes, applicators and makeup products.
By introducing a regular makeup hygiene routine that includes daily cleaning and sanitising of makeup brushes, applicators and sponges and sanitising makeup products helps reduce the contamination cycle and helps prevent health problems poor makeup and beauty hygiene can cause.
